Our new vicar: Reverend Nick Moir
Nick first came to Cambridge as an undergraduate at Caius in 1979. After graduation he worked at the Romsey Mill for two years before training for ordination at the Other Place. He returned to Cambridge in 1994 to be Chaplain of St John's College; he married Rosalind in 1998 and in the same year they moved to Waterbeach. Rosalind describes Nick as 'a rare combination of scientific thinker, dreamy lover of poetry and art, would-be desert hermit, voluble armchair football commentator, and hands-on, playful Dad.'
Rosalind was an undergraduate at St John's from 1984. She read Classics and Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic; she specialised in medieval Latin, earned a Doctorate for her work on early Saints' lives and is now a University Lecturer and Fellow of Robinson College. Nick describes Rosalind as 'at one moment an academic lost in a chaos of books and papers, but at the next Supermummy, wiping noses, sculpting play-dough, and encouraging the children in their bedtime prayer.'
Thomas is 6 this month (March). He enjoys playing with lego and pretending to be a knight or soldier. He likes any colour except pink, telling jokes (he has a repertoire of at least three) and playing football.
Claire is 4 in May and is looking forward to starting school in September. She likes any colour providing it is pink. She enjoys trampolining and dressing up (in pink).

Nick says, 'We are looking forward enormously to being with you, but less so to the actual moving - we have far too much clutter! Half my parishioners seem to have had strong ties with St Andrew's, so I have heard the inside story - all complimentary, of course... I feel honoured to have been appointed as your new vicar and am excited at the prospect of sharing the work of the gospel with some great people - judging by those I've met so far, anyway!'
